This was a design concept that I 'inherited' from another agency. It's an interesting idea, but was hell to get to work within the web's constraints, and was ultimately found to be impractical. The original designer's idea of the round 'hole' and the boots remains, but my contribution was to make the original 'sketch' more powerful by 'moulding' the interface and giving it the photorealistic look. There was a really nice rollover and 'on-click' effect on the studs too.
The products and the team-branded tops and bottoms appeared in the hole throught the use of transparent gifs over a background image. Unfortunately, this led to a real problem when a lot of items needed to be displayed, and this hugely successful online store has long since been re-designed to be more user-friendly and bandwidth-efficient. Still, this was different enough in 1998 to stand out from the crowd!

The designs above are some concepts that I was asked to produce as an outside commission for an eventual Kitbag redesign, though as the company employed their own in-house designers shortly after these were done, they have never been seen.
