Design

- getting a proper job!

Since 1998, I've been working as graphic designer, and now senior design consultant, for first Hughes Rae, and then Morse, a technology integration company with offices throughout the UK and Europe. The Derby office, where I am normally based, is reponsible for the application development side of Morse. My responsibilities include designing sites for clients and overseeing all aspects of the company's 'visual' output, as well as coding and production work. As well as 'pure' design, my area of responsibility also include making sure that all our sites and applications meet strict criteria in accessibility and usability.

Recent projects that I've been involved in include designing the user interface for a multi-million pound Vignette-based electronic library system for the Houses of Parliament; acting as UI consultant on a multi-million pound re-launch of BAA's internet presence, including managing third-party design agencies, and delivering very high standards of accessibility for a rebrand of the public facing web-site as well as the migration and harmonising of a large and mature intranet; and being principle designer of the user interface of a multi-million pound pan-European wireless games server environment for Orange.

These are some of the web-sites and other projects I've designed over the last four years...
