The Wolf-pair

'The Wolf-pair' (also known as 'The Night of the Long Knives') is one of a sequence of stories by the wonderful SF writer Fritz Leiber in the collection 'Night of the Wolf'. It deals with the relationship between two travellers, a man and a woman, in the post-apocalyptic wastelands of the US and is a strong and emotionally resonant tale of survival and redemption. In this sketch for a full-size painting I've taken a huge liberty and transferred the scene to a ruined London.
