27 Wagons Full of Cotton by Tennessee Williams - Jake Meighan

- Dukes Theatre, Lancaster. Directed by Matthew Line.

Tennessee Williams' one act plays are surprisingly unknown, and the cast of the Dukes 1988 season decided to put on a late-night double bill of two of them under the title 'Figures In A Landscape' - 'This Property Is Condemned' and '27 Wagons Full of Cotton', both directed by Matthew Line. Both plays achieved acclaim as films - the latter as 'Baby Doll' with Carol Baker.

A beautiful studio set by Paul Kondras, and an incredible central performance from Joanna Bacon as the hurt, lonely Flora (pictured below) made this a very rewarding piece to work on, despite the sometimes disturbing subject matter.
